The Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University (CMU), is one of the three original faculties established when the University was first founded in 1964. The University campus issituated at the foot of Doi Suthep, the sacred mountain which overlooks Chiang Mai City and which is revered for its temple containing relics of the Lord Buddha. The campus is located on Huay Kaew Road, 8 kilometers from the city centre.
At present, the Faculty of Science comprises its Administrative Offices and the 8 Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and, its most recent addition, Industrial Chemistry.
The Faculty is administered by the Dean and his 6 Associate Deans and 1 Assistant Dean. However, the actual academic and administrative policies for developing the Faculty are carried out under the advice of the Faculty Board.
