The Water Research Centre (WRC) has been enjoying academic cooperation with Birkbeck College University of London, UK, since 1987 with support from the British Council. It also enjoys cooperation with other institutions within Thailand such as the Royal Forest Department and the Office of Environmental Policy and Planning. The following cooperative activities were carried out by the Water Research Centre in 1997:

4 November - 13 December, 1996. Dr. Pisnu Wongpornchai of the Department of Geological Sciences visited Birkbeck College, University of London, UK, to participate in a training programme and to conduct research.

27 January - 1 February, 1997. The Faculty of Science was honoured to welcome Dr. William Burgess and Dr. Jane Dottridge of University College, University of London, UK, who visited the Faculty to take part in academic discussions with the Water Research Centre Research Team.

22 January - 25 February, 1997. Prof. Colin Flint of Birkbeck College, University of London, UK, visited the Centre to take part in academic discussions with the Water Research Centre Research Team to find ways of establishing academic cooperation with other agencies within the country. He also gave advice and recommendations on preparing academic reports for publication in international journals.

29 - 31 January, 1997. A conference on “Groundwater Contamination and Pollution Controls”, attended by 40 participants from the government and private sectors, was held at the Faculty of Science. Speakers included guests from the UK namely, Prof. Colin Flint, Dr. William Burgess and Dr. Jane Dottridge as well as 2 speakers from Thailand namely Dr. Kriangsak Srisuk of Khon Kaen University and Mr. Kosit Nipphithawasin of the Deep Well Drilling Division, Public Works Department.
