Cooperation with Shianghai University commenced in 1992 and focuses on Electro Ceramics. During the first phase, Prof. Dr. Tawee Tunkasiri visited Shianghai University to discuss joint research. This was followed by regular exchange of information on Electro Ceramics and a seminar on “Materials Technology Recent Developments and Future Potential” was held on 9-10 January, 1997. The objective of the seminar was to arrange meetings between ASIAN scientists. During the seminar, Prof. Wang Hong and Prof. Z.W. Yin, Director and Dean of the Science Faculty, Shianghai University, spoke on the topic “Preparation of Ba(Mg_1/3)O₃ Dielectric Material” and “Navel Micropowder Technology for Functional Ceramics : Liquid-Phase Coating on Solid Particles” respectively. Both participants also participated in a joint discussion on research work being carried out by ASIAN researchers. They also set a goal to participate in joint research with participants from other countries such as America, England, China and Japan who were attending the meeting.

Cooperation with Jinan University began in 1995. In the first phase, Assoc. Prof. Ye Qin of the Science Faculty, Jinan University, conducted joint research with Prof. Dr. Tawee Tunkasiri of the Physics Department on “Thin Films of Ceramics” for a period of 1 year. Research findings have been published in the ASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development and it is anticipated that findings will be published in the journal Ferro Electric Letters. After Assoc. Prof. Ye Qin had returned to Jinan University, the laboratory at Jinan University was modified so that corresponding research work could be conducted. In June, 1997, Jinan University invited Prof. Dr. Tawee Tunkasiri for a two weeks lectureship on Electro Ceramics. At the same time, a joint research project was established at Jinan University.
